Mia Ronn Wins National Poetry Out Loud Contest
Mia R. ’23 was named the 2022 Poetry Out Loud National Champion. On a virtual stage, Mia wowed judges with her recitations of poetry by Kara Jackson, Victor Hernández Cruz, and Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib.

Poetry Out Loud is a national arts education program that hosts a dynamic recitation competition for high school students. To become National Champion, Mia had to first make it through county, state, and semi-finalist competitions. In the 17 years of the Poetry Out Loud competition, Mia is the first-ever California State Champion to win first place nationally.
Archer Receives 7th Consecutive First Amendment Press Freedom Award
Archer is among 17 schools to receive the First Amendment Press Freedom Award in 2022.
The JEA notes that the award “recognizes private and public high schools that actively support, teach and protect First Amendment rights and responsibilities of students and teachers, with an emphasis on student-run media where students make all final decisions of content.” This is the School’s 7th consecutive year winning the award for its support of the First Amendment and its free and responsible student media.
Archer Athletics Finishes Strong in 2021-2022
Archer athletes came together as a team and worked to encourage, support, and build each other’s confidence. Pre- and post-practice reflection led by intention and purpose ignited greatness within each individual athlete and resulted in teams reaching new heights.

Three aspiring college student athletes signed National Letters of Intent or Commitment Letters to further their education in sport at a college level.
Archer Students Earn Recognition at L.A. County Science and Engineering Fair
L.A. County Science and Engineering Fair recognized a record number of Archer Middle and Upper School students this year for their incredible scientific work in 2022.

Eighteen students brought home awards across a variety of disciplines, including Behavioral/Social Sciences, Ecology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, and Environmental Management. It was Archer's highest level of participation ever in the state science fair. Ten students have placed 1st, 2nd, or designated 3rd in their respective categories represented the School at the California State Science Fair.
